Keep the pixels your footage actually contains
This 4K video frame extractor creates a canvas at the decoded video width and height. The preview can be smaller on your screen while the downloaded still retains the source dimensions. For a compatible 3840 × 2160 recording, that means a 3840 × 2160 image. Check the resolution badge after loading. A file that was previously resized to HD will produce HD captures, even if its file name says 4K.
Resolution is different from sharpness
A large frame can still contain motion blur, missed focus, heavy compression or noise. Before capturing, compare nearby moments where the subject slows down and the camera settles. Use PNG when you want to avoid an additional lossy image encode. It does not reverse compression in the original video, restore raw sensor data or guarantee accurate HDR color. Inspect the downloaded image at its actual size rather than judging only the smaller preview.
Work within a browser-sized batch
The extractor supports up to 8.3 million decoded pixels per frame, including UHD 3840 × 2160. It does not support 8K capture. Large PNG files use the 96 MB gallery budget quickly, so start with a few images and download before clearing the gallery. The separate 120-frame ceiling is also enforced. For long, exact-frame or color-managed exports, use a dedicated desktop decoder or editor rather than a browser sampling workflow.
Start with a short test
- Choose a compatible local video and wait for a playable preview.
- Capture one useful moment, or select a short range and interval.
- Compare the actual subject, then download an image or gallery ZIP.
The workspace accepts sources up to 2 GB and 8.3 million decoded pixels per frame. A gallery holds up to 120 images or 96 MB. Seeking depends on the browser and source timing. Keep the source, use media you have permission to process, and check a small output before starting a larger batch.
Questions for this workflow
Does this extract 8K frames?
No. 8K exceeds this release’s 8.3-million-pixel capture limit. Use a desktop tool for 8K sources.
Is a PNG capture completely lossless?
PNG avoids an additional lossy image encode. Video decoding, color handling and existing source compression still affect the picture.
