Choose a video from your device

No video upload. Try a compatible MP4, MOV, or WebM file. Up to 2 GB; playback depends on your browser.

Up to 120 captured images / 96 MB per gallery. Sharpness is an estimate; seeking is browser-dependent. The end time is excluded from a batch. Your video stays on your device.

A sequence from a browser recording

WebM is common in screen captures and browser-recorded clips. Open a local WebM file to save individual images of a tutorial step, chart change or animation state. For a sequence, enter a start and end time and choose an interval. A two-second range sampled every 0.5 second requests four pictures at 0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 seconds when the start is zero. The end time is excluded, which avoids duplicating the next segment.

Handle recordings with missing duration

Some recorder-created WebM files have incomplete duration metadata. A moving preview does not necessarily mean that seeking to a timestamp is available. Wait for the workspace to report that the video is ready. If duration or seeking remains unreliable, export a properly finalized copy using your recorder or an editor. The tool reports errors rather than claiming that an image sequence was created when the requested pictures could not be captured.

Export useful, manageable samples

PNG works well for screenshots with small interface text; JPG is smaller but can create artifacts around letters and lines. WebP is another choice if your next application supports it. Use a short range around a meaningful change, inspect the gallery, then download the sequence as a ZIP. Timestamped file names preserve your requested sampling times. They are not a guarantee of an exact source-frame number. Browser codec support and memory still determine whether a particular WebM works.

Start with a short test

  1. Choose a compatible local video and wait for a playable preview.
  2. Capture one useful moment, or select a short range and interval.
  3. Compare the actual subject, then download an image or gallery ZIP.

The workspace accepts sources up to 2 GB and 8.3 million decoded pixels per frame. A gallery holds up to 120 images or 96 MB. Seeking depends on the browser and source timing. Keep the source, use media you have permission to process, and check a small output before starting a larger batch.

Questions for this workflow

Can I keep WebM transparency in a video capture?

Transparency support depends on the video codec and browser; the extractor does not certify alpha preservation for WebM video.

Does the ZIP contain actual images?

Yes. It contains the captured PNG, JPG or WebP files, with timestamps in their names.
