Capture native-size stills from compatible drone footage

Extract images from compatible DJI or other drone recordings. Compare sharp moments, retain decoded 4K dimensions and review codec and color limits.

Choose a video from your device

No video upload. Try a compatible MP4, MOV, or WebM file. Up to 2 GB; playback depends on your browser.

Up to 120 captured images / 96 MB per gallery. Sharpness is an estimate; seeking is browser-dependent. The end time is excluded from a batch. Your video stays on your device.

Find a usable still in the flight recording

A drone video can contain several possible views of the same scene as the aircraft moves. Open a compatible recording and compare moments where the framing is useful and movement settles. Capture a few candidates rather than grabbing a screenshot of the smaller player. The downloaded image uses decoded dimensions, so a compatible UHD recording can create a 3840 × 2160 still within the extractor’s pixel limit.

Check codec and color before judging the result

Drone files may use H.264, HEVC or another recording format. Support depends on your browser and device, and the drone brand alone does not establish compatibility. If the clip cannot play, export an H.264 MP4 working copy with your editor. Log profiles, HDR and wide-gamut recordings can look different through a browser decoding path. For a carefully graded still, apply your intended color workflow in an editor and compare it with the browser capture.

A video still is not a replacement for every drone photo

Motion blur, rolling shutter, focus and video compression affect the still. Compare stable moments with detailed subjects near the part of the image you need. A textured landscape can score highly even when an important building or person is soft, so inspect that subject rather than relying on the sharpness score alone. PNG is an editing master; JPG is a smaller sharing copy. This workspace does not provide mapping accuracy, georeferenced exports or survey measurements.

Start with a short test

  1. Choose a compatible local video and wait for a playable preview.
  2. Capture one useful moment, or select a short range and interval.
  3. Compare the actual subject, then download an image or gallery ZIP.

The workspace accepts sources up to 2 GB and 8.3 million decoded pixels per frame. A gallery holds up to 120 images or 96 MB. Seeking depends on the browser and source timing. Keep the source, use media you have permission to process, and check a small output before starting a larger batch.

Questions for this workflow

Will all DJI 4K videos open?

No brand-level guarantee applies. Browser codec support and this release’s 8.3-MP capture limit determine compatibility.

Are these stills georeferenced survey images?

No. The tool captures pixels without a mapping or survey metadata workflow.
