Video frame workspaceLOCAL PROCESSING

Choose a video from your device

No video upload. Try a compatible MP4, MOV, or WebM file. Up to 2 GB; playback depends on your browser.

Up to 120 captured images / 96 MB per gallery. Sharpness is an estimate; seeking is browser-dependent. The end time is excluded from a batch. Your video stays on your device.

Choose a cover that survives different views

Your Reel cover may be shown in several contexts with different crops. Start with a frame where the main subject remains recognizable near the center, leaving space around important details. Use the video file from your device rather than a compressed screenshot of a playing Reel. Capture several nearby candidates and compare them. A frame that reads clearly without motion is a useful starting point for a cover.

Keep the original orientation

The extractor retains the decoded dimensions. A portrait source creates a portrait image; a landscape source stays landscape. It does not automatically turn every recording into a 9:16 cover or choose a crop for Instagram. Download the full image and make your cover composition in an editor, checking the current publishing preview before posting. Keep text away from areas likely to be trimmed, and inspect faces and products at the size visitors will see.

Use a short comparison range

Fast gestures and camera movement can look good in motion while producing a soft still. Sample a short section around the important action, review the gallery, then keep the image with the strongest combination of composition and clarity. JPG is useful for a small sharing file; PNG is a better editing master. The sharpness score only estimates edge variation and can favor a textured background. It cannot judge whether a cover matches your message.

Start with a short test

  1. Choose a compatible local video and wait for a playable preview.
  2. Capture one useful moment, or select a short range and interval.
  3. Compare the actual subject, then download an image or gallery ZIP.

The workspace accepts sources up to 2 GB and 8.3 million decoded pixels per frame. A gallery holds up to 120 images or 96 MB. Seeking depends on the browser and source timing. Keep the source, use media you have permission to process, and check a small output before starting a larger batch.

Questions for this workflow

Can this download someone else’s Reel?

No. It processes a local video file. Obtain permission before using another creator’s footage.

Will the cover always stay 9:16?

Only if the decoded source has those proportions. Cropping and platform publishing controls are outside this extractor.
